Our History
NESC-GE has been hosting competitions in Georgia since 2011. In 2012, Adam Malinowski, a former Peace Corps Volunteer, with the help of the Georgian community, began the National English Spelling Competition. Adam wished to give students a fun, motivating and rewarding activity that emphasized the importance of spelling as a skill for English language mastery. For more than 200 years, spelling competitions have motivated American students and rewarded hard-working teachers for student mastery of important English language words and word rules. Georgian students and teachers have the same spirit for competition and love for learning, and through their enthusiastic participation, Adam’s humble NESC-GE project become a national not-for-profit on June 27, 2013. NESC-GE has successfully hosted 6 years of competition across Georgia with over 4,000 participant teachers, students and volunteers.
